Why I Support Linda McMahon

The reason I support Linda McMahon as our next United States Senator is simple. She cares. I know this because I have seen first hand the countless hours that she has put into her campaign. I first met Linda at a Republican Town Committee meeting in Enfield earlier in the year where she came to speak. I was very emotional, nervous, and apprehensive when I approached her. I told her about my situation: I have worked very hard my entire life and that I believe you must work for things instead of having them handed to you. I told her about having worked for the same company for over 15 years and being laid off because of the economy. I told her about how hard it was for me to look at my wife and four children and told them we had to move out of our nice little home because I could not keep up with the mortgage payments any longer, and I told her how hard it was trying to find a job.
She looked back at me, shook my hand, and said "I know it's hard and I want to help." She then told me about how she and Vince had to file for bankruptcy and how they had lost their home too. The thing that got me though was that I could see it in her eyes. She REALLY did care. She MEANT it. No BS. No fluff. Just true compassion. In that brief moment I knew she was for real. Not a career politician but someone who cares.

Ever since that day, I have been volunteering for her campaign and I will do whatever it takes to help get her elected. Her campaign staff in West Hartford is second to none and they care as much as she does. Jason, Scott, Joe, Yanna, Jackie, Julie, I could go on and on and not begin to cover the tremendous staff she has. They all put in countless hours to make sure all goes well.

I have asked myself why she is doing this many times over the past few months. Is it for money? Hardly. In fact she is spending her own money on most of her campaign. Is it for fame? Not a chance. What "fame" is there to be had as a Senator? Not much. That just leaves it to the fact that she really cares. She cares about you, she cares about me, and she cares about her country. To me, that says a lot. Linda probably puts in a thousand miles each week on the road getting her message out and talking to the citizens of Connecticut. She is out of her home early in the morning and does not return until very late at night. She could be sitting by a pool in France being waited on hand and foot with the kind of money she has and yet, here she is, riding down another road happily greeting and talking to more residents of our state.

There will always be people who say she is in this for power, prestige, and such. To them, I say look at the facts and don't criticise what you don't know.

Thank you Linda. I look forward to the many years ahead where you represent the people of Connecticut.
